Happy Sunday lovely people! I hope you are all having a lovely weekend so far. We had a lovely day out as a family yesterday shopping in Milton Keynes getting some ideas for Christmas. I can’t believe the big day is so close, it’s definitely crept up on me this year.
Little Aiden and I started the week off great with a mama and baby coffee date. We checked out a deli near our house and I had a double hit of chocolate in the form of a delicious hot chocolate with too much whipped cream and a chocolate brownie. The brownie was a bit dry for my liking, but still nice none the less.
I’ve loved my hot porridge this week, especially on the colder mornings it’s been perfect. These apple oats topped with lots of cinnamon, walnuts, honey and organic natural yoghurt were wonderful. I’m not sure how many variations of porridge I can come up with, but I really like how versatile this breakfast is and how you can change it up so you never get bored.
It hasn’t been all about the oats though this week. I discovered that they now sell Coyo coconut yoghurt in Tesco and I picked up a few pots as a treat. This was a lovely bowl of a chopped dessert pear, plain coconut yoghurt, peanut butter and honey, yum!
Whipping up some eggs for lunch and dinner has been fab for quick and easy meals with a newborn. I’ve made the most of the fact that I can eat runny egg yolks again and I’ve eaten them non-stop. I loved this plate of deliciousness so much that I’ve had it a few times this week. It’s fried free range eggs with chilli haloumi cheese, avocado, spinach and tomatoes.
Whilst out and about yesterday we had our first meal out since our little man was born. Nothing fancy just Nando’s, it was nice to be eating out again as it one of our favourite thing to do as a couple, although this time Aiden was with us asleep in his pushchair. Funnily enough, both Alfie and I realised that our first date was in Nando’s followed by a film (cheesy I know and the film was Hitch too!) and our first meal out post-baby was in Nandos - it’s like we had come full circle.
Sorry about the poor picture quality, but that’s Alfie wearing AJ in his Stokke MyCarrier, you can just see the bear ears on his hoodie poking out the top. He loves being snuggled up to either mummy’s or daddy’s chest so he really adored being in is baby sling. I have a traditional African sling already for around the home and I’ve just ordered an Ama Wrap too because we love baby wearing in our house for lots of baby snuggles and productivity, more on that later next week. We were actually on our way to our 6 week check up and we both passed with flying colours and our doctor signed me off to work out again too. I’m really looking forward to getting my fitness levels up again.
Have you got your Christmas gifts all sorted for yet? Where did you go for your first date?
That hot chocolate looks so good! I haven’t been to Nandos for so long - definitely need to go back soon! x
We hardly go at all now. It’s lovely to go back though as I really enjoy their food. x
Aww how funny about the Nandos, very sweet!
That hot chocolate looks delicious, whipped cream is so tasty 🙂
It was seriously indulgent and tasted amazing! 🙂
I’m very much a last minute dot com type of person when it comes to buying presents, it always seems to work out for me in the long run. My first date coincidentally was Nandos we were supposed to go for a Mexican, but the weather was too adverse to drive to the location, so we stayed close home. *memories*
Ahhh memories indeed! I love being reminded of special moments like these.
How you have managed to make porridge look appealing disturbs me slightly 🙂
Ha! 🙂 Thanks Stephen.
the food looks amazing! I think I need to make a hot chocolate now 🙂
have not started Christmas shopping yet but will start soon
I haven’t started either, just getting ideas together. I’m really looking forward to it though. 🙂
That’s just adorable that your first date and your first baby dates match!!
Didn’t know they were selling coyo in tesco’s, great news! My corner shop in London sells it too which is pretty awesome 🙂
I bet it’s normal to see healthy living products in your corner shop in London - how cool is that! It’s great that products like these are becoming more accessible. 🙂
I am totally unprepared for Christmas, and lacking in serious funds after our house move so I think it may be cheap and cheerful! I love coyo, haven’t had any in a while as I can’t justify the price, nice for a treat though!
I really like this the Nando’s story and coming full circle!
Its weird how things like that happen 🙂
Oh wow that hot chocolate looks good. The only thing about whipped cream in a hot choc is that it cools it down far too much. I like my hot chocolates piping hot!
Ahh Nando’s. How I do love it there. Simple but tasty!
You must be so excited to have your first Christmas with your little man.
I would be SO excited to have runny yolks again for the first time. I’m really not sure that I could go without them.
Justa bout to get ready for xmas - I try to make a lot of resents so body scrub and lip balm here I come!
Aw how lovely 🙂
We didn’t have a real first date as such- we met at a gig (mutual groups of friends were going) and then we went to the local firework display, again as part of a group. That was 16 years ago- we do often go to see firework displays still as we both enjoy them, but now we only manage to see a live band about once a year!
