My Intentions For 2020

Like always, I’m kicking off the start of a new year with my intentions for the year. I’ve used that limbo period between Christmas and new year (when we don’t know what day it is) to get to grips with what I want to achieve this year.

To guide me, I used my Passion + Purpose Planner, which not only helped me to review 2019 it’s allowed me to find clarity on what I want in my life going forward. It was so nice to carve out a bit of time to fill it in and give some thought to my intentions this year.

Taking some time off social media over the festive period has helped me find some alignment and authenticity with my intentions so I haven’t been influenced by anyone else or set them because that’s what I think I should be doing.

So I wrote about the things that I want to let go of in the new year. Here’s what I want more of in 2020:

Visit more of the UK

Traveling and exploring is always on my list of intentions, but this year I’m really interested in seeing more of the UK and what it has to offer. Trips to Cornwall and the Peak District are certainly on the cards at some point. There are so many lovely places to visit here and I want to see as many as we can.

Host a Weekend Retreat

This is something that I’ve wanted to do for ages and one of the main reasons that I haven’t is lack of self-belief that I could. What if it simply doesn’t work?  It’s a big risk, but I’m really working on my mindset on how I view failure at the moment.  My mantra this year is “just do it” so you’ll be seeing lots of new things from me that I’ve been putting off this year.

Read 52 books

Perhaps this one is a bit far-fetched with 2 children, I’m not sure. I really love reading and want to prioritise it more in 2020. I got some lovely books for Christmas to get me started on this one already.

Plan everything ahead of time

Towards the end of last year, I saw the major benefits of planning everything way in advance when it comes to my business and it’s something that I want to continue this year. I definitely enjoyed the calmer approach instead of frantically trying to get things done under pressure.

I’ve already got the first quarter of this year’s blog content planned and feeling better for it. I’m pretty sure this is going to help my productivity levels too.

Expand my coaching business to help more people

I’ve really enjoyed connecting and helping women achieve their wellness goals after setting up my 1:1 coaching practice last year.  This year I want to help more women with group coaching programs, online masterclasses, and more 1:1 coaching sessions.

If you’d like to find out how we can work together check out my coaching page.

Start a podcast

OK, so this is something that I’ve wanted to do for ages and a couple of things have stopped me going ahead with it.

  1. What would I be adding to the many podcasts already out there – it’s a saturated market!
  2. Would anyone actually listen?

Again, this all stems from my fear of failure, but as previously mentioned, I want to kick that mindset to the curb and just do it.  Watch this space!

Sign up to run a 5K and 10K race

I’ve really enjoyed getting back into running again and I’m feeling the desire to step up my game by signing up for some races this year. It’s been a while since I’ve run one, but excited to give them a go.

So there are my intentions for 2020.  As I mentioned above, I haven’t taken on a word for this year, it’s more of a phrase – “just do it!” This really resonated with me because I tend to get in my own way a lot and I’ve often found myself saying it to my coaching clients too.  I’ve decided to take a dose of my own advice and take those leaps when they arise. If it doesn’t go well, at least I would have tried and will learn some important lessons along the way.

What are your intentions for 2020? Do you have a word for the year?
